Attendance

Regular school attendance is one of the most important factors in a child’s educational success. When children attend school consistently, they build strong relationships, develop routines, and engage fully in learning opportunities. Yet, ensuring good attendance is not just the responsibility of schools—it’s a shared commitment between educators, families, and communities.

At our school, we are committed to providing a great education and the building blocks for this begins with regular attendance. When children miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in later life.

We have high expectations in terms of attendance for all pupils - it is important our children attend school every day.High levels of attendance not only help our pupils achieve their potential but it also helps to form and maintain good friendships with peers.

We understand that occasionally a child may not be able to attend school due to illness or an exceptional circumstance. Where this happens please inform the school on the first day of an absence via an email or phonecall.

This should also be followed up with a brief explanatory note to the class teacher on your child's return to school.

How can Parents help with good attendance?

Parents and carers play a vital role in shaping attitudes toward school and helping children understand the value of being present every day.

  • Talk to your child positively about school and the fun things they do!
  • Establish a good routine at bedtime and in the morning.

  • Speak with your class teacher early if you have any worries or concerns.

  • Be punctual - this sets the example that school is valued and important
